Clear evidence for sex-specific differences in the pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic properties of anti-hypertension drugs has accumulated. The population most frequently in need of clinical treatment for hypertension or heart failure is, of course, the elderly. They often take many kinds of medications, so whole-body pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics must always be taken into consideration during treatment planning.
