Kingston, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) Jamaica will invest about $ 745 million USD in the Sewerage Rehabilitation Project, said Leary Myers, president of the National Water Commission (NWC).

The program, which will conclude in 2021, will allocate each year more than $ 3 million USD to improve treatment and equitable distribution of water resources, maximize supply sources and reduce losses, he said.

The design and development of new transportation systems and water harvesting will help mitigate drought and will benefit from a regular supply to health centers, public institutions and communities affected by water scarcity, he said.

Besides the study of the current and future needs of the people, the project involves replacing miles of pipes and building wells, the website jamaicaobserver.com reported.
