UN Repeats Call to Live in Harmony with Nature

United Nations, Dec 23 (Prensa Latina) For the fourth consecutive year, the United Nations called for actions to bring humanity to live in harmony with Nature and “restore the condition and integrity of ecosystems on Earth”.

In a resolution adopted yesterday, the General Assembly said that “to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations is necessary to promote harmony with nature”.

It also called for the countries and bodies of the UN system to improve and expand the quality and quantity of basic statistical data about the three pillars of sustainable development (economic, social and environmental).

It also called to adopt broader methods to measure the progress of the elements that complement the GDP, in order to better support regulations.

The text praised the website opened by the UN to promote a holistic approach to sustainable development in harmony with Nature and promote scientific works and examples of the use of traditional knowledge and national legislation on the subject.
